Syed J. Hashmi, M.D.
Dr. Syed Hashmi is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey Medical School, Division of Nephrology where he was involved in research. He relocated to Florida to start a practice in the Hollywood and Pembroke Pines area. In 2007, he started a partnership with Neil J. Weiner, DO and together they founded South Florida Nephrology Consultants, PL to improve the quality of care for patients at risk for kidney disease.

Dr. Hashmi served as Nephrology Chief at Memorial Miramar Hospital from 2005-2007. He is currently serving in the internal medicine executive committee at Memorial Regional Hospital, Hollywood and is the Medical Director at two DaVita Dialysis Centers.

Dr. Hashmi is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Beth M. Leventhal, M.D.
Dr. Beth Leventhal graduated from Princeton University in 1989, earning a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Certificate in Latin American Studies. She received her Doctor of Medicine in 1994 from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York, after spending additional time studying Chile's well regarded public health system on a travel grant. Dr. Leventhal completed her internship and residency in 1997 at Yale-New Haven Hospital in the Categorical Internal Medicine Residency Program. She was an attending physician at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx for one year prior to training in the Nephrology Fellowship Program at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She remained at NYPH as an assistant attending physician for one year, conducting clinical research within the Hypertension Center, which was supported by a grant from the American Heart Association.

Dr. Leventhal then moved to South Florida in 2001 and worked as a staff nephrologist at the Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston until 2014. Dr. Leventhal is Board Certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She joined South Florida Nephrology Consultants in 2015. She is happy to rejoin the practice. She is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Leventhal has been named a Castle Connolly and US News Best Doctor.
Joanna M. Rodríguez, M.D.
Dr. Joanna Rodriguez earned her medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestro in Santiago, Dominican Republic. She completed her internal medicine program and nephrology fellowship at New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens, affiliated with New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York.

During her training she spent a year as chief medical resident for the internal medicine program.

She relocated to South Florida in 2003 and joined South Florida Nephrology Consultants in 2008.

Dr. Rodriguez is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Nancy M. Tran, M.D.
Dr. Nancy Tran was born in Montreal, Canada, and moved to South Florida in 1992. She grew up in Weston and graduated from Western High School in Davie. She attended college at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts where she received Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Linguistics and Biology. Although she enjoyed her time in New England, she opted for sunnier weather and returned to her home state to obtain her medical degree at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She subsequently moved to Dallas, Texas for residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern. She remained there to complete her fellowship in Nephrology, where she also served as Chief Fellow. Upon graduation, she moved back to South Florida to pursue her career as a nephrologist. Dr. Tran is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

Dr. Tran has interests in acute kidney injury/critical care nephrology, glomerulopathies, and all aspects of renal replacement therapy, especially peritoneal dialysis. She believes that education is the best form of patient advocacy, and she is looking forward to sharing her passion and enthusiasm for nephrology with her community.

In her spare time, Dr. Tran enjoys traveling, reading, discovering new places to eat, and rooting for the Florida Gators. She also speaks French, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
