Syed J. Hashmi, M.D.
Dr. Syed Hashmi is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey Medical School, Division of Nephrology where he was involved in research. He relocated to Florida to start a practice in the Hollywood and Pembroke Pines area. In 2007, he started a partnership with Neil J. Weiner, DO and together they founded South Florida Nephrology Consultants, PL to improve the quality of care for patients at risk for kidney disease.

Dr. Hashmi served as Nephrology Chief at Memorial Miramar Hospital from 2005-2007. He is currently serving in the internal medicine executive committee at Memorial Regional Hospital, Hollywood and is the Medical Director at two DaVita Dialysis Centers.

Dr. Hashmi is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Joanna M. Rodríguez, M.D.
Dr. Joanna Rodriguez earned her medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestro in Santiago, Dominican Republic. She completed her internal medicine program and nephrology fellowship at New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens, affiliated with New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York.

During her training she spent a year as chief medical resident for the internal medicine program.

She relocated to South Florida in 2003 and joined South Florida Nephrology Consultants in 2008.

Dr. Rodriguez is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Nancy M. Tran, M.D.
Dr. Nancy Tran was born in Montreal, Canada, and moved to South Florida in 1992. She grew up in Weston and graduated from Western High School in Davie. She attended college at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts where she received Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Linguistics and Biology. Although she enjoyed her time in New England, she opted for sunnier weather and returned to her home state to obtain her medical degree at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She subsequently moved to Dallas, Texas for residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern. She remained there to complete her fellowship in Nephrology, where she also served as Chief Fellow. Upon graduation, she moved back to South Florida to pursue her career as a nephrologist. Dr. Tran is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

Dr. Tran has interests in acute kidney injury/critical care nephrology, glomerulopathies, and all aspects of renal replacement therapy, especially peritoneal dialysis. She believes that education is the best form of patient advocacy, and she is looking forward to sharing her passion and enthusiasm for nephrology with her community.

In her spare time, Dr. Tran enjoys traveling, reading, discovering new places to eat, and rooting for the Florida Gators. She also speaks French, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
Julio C. Vijil, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Julio Vijil earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and physiology at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. From there, he returned to his home in Illinois where he attended the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. Dr. Vijil completed a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2000, then continued at UIC for his Internal Medicine residency, and then fellowship in Nephrology. During his fellowship, Dr. Vijil also earned a Master of Public Health degree. He continued at UIC as Assistant Professor of Medicine, beginning in 2005. While faculty at UIC, Dr. Vijil was awarded a National Institutes of Health Career Development Award. He was involved in research in the area of Chronic Kidney Disease risk factors and progression, and is co-author of several papers in leading medical journals. He served as Medical Director of the University of Illinois at Chicago Dialysis Unit.

Dr. Vijil joined South Florida Nephrology Consultants in 2009. He is trained in Renal Ultrasonography. He does speaking engagements for Takeda Pharmaceuticals on the topic of gout and hyperuricemia. Dr. Vijil is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology by The American Board of Internal Medicine.
Neil J. Weiner, D.O.
Dr. Neil Weiner completed his undergraduate degree at Tufts University in Boston (Dean's List, Pi Award for Academic Excellence). He earned his degree in Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, FL (with Honors recognition). He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL. Following this, Dr. Weiner completed his Fellowship in Nephrology at The George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC. During his Fellowship, Dr. Weiner was a lead author in a featured article in Kidney International and wrote a chapter (as an Invited Review) in the Encyclopedia of Endocrine Diseases.

Dr. Weiner began his private practice in his lifelong hometown of Hollywood in 2003. His practice is limited to Kidney Disease and Hypertension. Dr. Weiner has performed speaking engagements at Grand Rounds at Memorial Regional Hospital, and has served as a Speaker for a leading pharmaceutical company (Amgen). Dr. Weiner currently serves as a Medical Director for US Renal Care as well as American Renal Associates. He has served on the Executive Committees of Memorial Regional Hospital, Memorial Hospital Pembroke and Memorial Hospital West. Dr. Weiner is a former Vice-Chief of Medicine at Memorial Regional Hospital and Memorial Hospital West.

Dr. Weiner is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
